How to Build Brand Awareness
That Sticks in People's Minds
Being another face in the crowd is easy. However, if you want to be top-of-mind at all times when a situation where your brand is needed arises, you need to focus on building brand awareness.
The significance of this is often underrated because you don’t see the need to create those “Happy New Month Flyers” or “Celebration Flyers” and all the small things.
Not knowing that with every piece of content you put out, at least one person sees it, and if they see it enough times, they’re going to engage with you.
Here’s how brand awareness fits into this;
Brand awareness is the degree to which people are familiar with your brand.
It's about getting your brand out there so that people know who you are, what you do, and why you do it.
There are two main components of brand awareness: brand recall and brand recognition.
· Brand recall is when people can remember your brand name whether aided or unaided. For example, if I ask you to name a popular telecommunication brand, you might say MTN. That's because MTN has a high brand recall.
· Brand recognition is when people can identify your brand when they see it. For example, if I show you a picture of the MTN logo, you'll probably be able to tell me that it's MTN.
Both brand recall and brand recognition are important for building a strong brand, but brand recall is especially important because it's what makes people think of your brand first when they're making a purchase decision.
Here’s how to build brand awareness
· Create a strong brand identity.
Your brand identity is the sum total of all the things that make your brand unique, including your logo, colors, typography, and messaging.
It's what will help people remember your brand and distinguish it from the competition.
· Be consistent with your branding.
Once you've created a strong brand identity, you need to be consistent with it across all your marketing materials. This means using the same logo, colors, and messaging everywhere you go.
· Get your brand out there.
The more people who are exposed to your brand, the more likely they are to remember it. So get your brand out there through advertising, social media, and other marketing channels.
· Make it easy for people to remember your brand.
Use simple, memorable names and logos. And make sure your messaging is clear and concise.
· Be creative and unexpected.
People are more likely to remember a brand that stands out from the crowd. So don't be afraid to be creative and unexpected with your marketing.
Building brand awareness takes time and effort, but it's worth it in the long run. A strong brand awareness will help you attract new customers, boost sales, and build a successful business.
